Are AI model photos allowed on Meesho, Myntra and Amazon?

By the Vastra Studio team · Updated

We could not find a published rule that bans AI model photos on Meesho, Myntra or Amazon, and we could not open their seller policies to confirm. Whatever tool you use, the photo must show the garment you ship: same colour, neckline, print and pieces. Check each marketplace's current rules before listing.

The honest short answer

We do not have a rule from any of the three marketplaces that says AI model photos are allowed or banned. Their seller policies are behind seller logins that we could not open while writing this, and what other blogs say about them is secondhand and often contradicts itself. So this page tells you what we verified, what we did not, and how to protect your listing either way.

What we verified

  • Google does not ban AI content as such. Google Search's guidance says generative AI can be useful, but content must be accurate and offer value to users, and mass-producing pages without adding value may break its spam policy on scaled content abuse. Source: Google Search Central, guidance on using generative AI content (last updated 2026-10-01 on the page when we read it).
  • Google Merchant Center has its own rule for AI images. The same Google page says that for ecommerce sites, Merchant Center has policies for AI-generated content, and that AI-generated images must contain metadata using the IPTC DigitalSourceType TrainedAlgorithmicMedia value. This matters only if you list products on Google Shopping, not on Meesho, Myntra or Amazon.

What we could not verify

MarketplaceDoes it allow AI model photos?Status
MeeshoNo published policy found by usNot verified. Ask Meesho seller support and read the Supplier Panel image guidelines.
MyntraNo published policy found by usNot verified. Check your Myntra seller portal and account manager.
Amazon IndiaThird-party blogs say AI images are fine if they show the product accurately; we could not confirm this from AmazonNot verified. Read Seller Central's image requirements and any AI content policy.

Marketplace rules change, and a policy that is silent today can be updated tomorrow. Treat the table as a to-do list, not an answer.

What reliably gets listings in trouble, with or without AI

These are our reading of how any photo can mislead, not a quote from a policy.

  • Wrong colour. The photo shows a different shade from what ships.
  • Changed design. A different neckline, sleeve or print than the real garment.
  • Added pieces. In one of our own tests an editorial look added a dupatta that was not in the flat photo. Do not list that photo unless the dupatta ships.
  • A model that does not match the fit. A garment shown longer, looser or more fitted than it is.

How to stay safe

  1. Compare every AI photo with the real garment: neckline, sleeves, print, border, colour, every piece worn.
  2. Keep at least one real photo of the actual garment (print or embroidery close-up) in the listing.
  3. Do not use a photo that adds or changes anything.
  4. If a marketplace asks whether images are AI-generated, answer honestly.
  5. Keep your original flat photos, so you can show what you ship if a listing is questioned.

On our side, the models in Vastra Studio are AI-generated, not real people, and we say so on our pages. See the Meesho image checklist and kurti model photos with AI.
